"fullText": "显德元年，周太祖刚刚去世，北汉主刘旻便联合契丹军南下，试探新皇帝柴荣能否守住后周。柴荣没有留在开封等待，而是亲率禁军迎敌。两军在泽州高平一带相遇，北汉军先压住周军右翼。侍卫马军都指挥使樊爱能、步军都指挥使何徽临阵退却，一度带动部众奔逃。柴荣没有撤走，他在御阵前重整仍未溃散的军队，亲军和诸将重新向前，战局由危转胜。北汉军败退，周军追击到高平，再次击破敌军。战后，柴荣没有把胜利写成皆大欢喜。他处死樊爱能、何徽等逃将，又裁汰老弱、挑选精锐，重新训练禁军。高平之战首先保住了新君的皇位威望，更重要的是让后周开始拥有一支受中央控制、纪律更严的军队。几年以后，赵匡胤正是在这套军事基础上继续扩张，并建立北宋。"
